HISTORY

‘A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots' - Marcus Garvey

Our vision for history at Claines C.E Primary School is that every child should learn from and appreciate the past in order to shape their own cultural, political and economic identity in the future.

We aim to broaden experiences and understanding of cultural diversity, as well as, ignite curiosities through educational visits, interpreting of sources and exploring questions.

By firstly examining their own personal history, children will develop a sense of chronology extending from Claines, to Britain and then to the wider world.

Through a clear progression and ‘over learning’ of skills, we encourage confidence, creativity and independence in our learners. This is to equip them for their role in society and the wider world.
